Elliott Abrams on Obama’s ME Policy Follies

Source: Channel 1 (June 5, 2010) Elliott Abrams is currently a senior fellow for Middle Eastern studies at the Council on Foreign Relations. He served as Special Assistant to the US President and Senior Director on the National Security Council for Near East and North African Affairs, and later on promoted to be his Deputy National Security Advisor for Global Democracy Strategy, in charge of promoting the President’s strategy of advancing democracy abroad of the previous administration. Abrams elaborates on the negative consequences of Obama’s appeasing doctrine and criticizes Obama’s tacit consent to single out Israel on nuclear transparency, while Iran hasn’t been mentioned by name, a complete breach of previous Presidents’ commitments to Israel. In addition Abrams points out Obama’s folly of pressuring Israel, ensuing complete detachment by the PA from direct peace negotiations, awaiting the US to do the job for them.
